apple crumble ala mode

i havent had it easy at work these days...but i still try to find sometime to do something in the kitchen particularly over the weekends, and especially when i am back. my parents know this and they actually like to go on their dates so that i have a free reign in the kitchen. so does my husband..heh..the time i have for myself to experiment in the kitchen means he has his own time to do his own stuffs and these days it'll mean catching up with his friends.

my friends and i used to like to head down to a cafe near city hall area (the moonriver cafe) just for a briefer sometimes. to catch up and destress with a nice warm cup of flavoured milk. it was circa december..the cool weather means warm milk was it, together with their very good apple crumble. we loved it..and for awhile used to make dates just for that...

thinking of those comforting moments, i decided to therefore try my hand in making my own apple crumble.

start with some nice granny smiths

and butter which needs some rubbing with flour and sugar..

once that is done..we peel and decore the apples..
mix them with some oj, lil bit of flour and sugar.
and that important cinnamon

put the apple fillings in the pan. some recipes do not have a crust to go with it. i decided to have one..got a ready made one from coldstorage. top this with the crumbs. sprinkle some sugar..then it goes into the oven..

and this is what we got..

and here's a slice of the apple crumble.
